Q: Are your Speedcell Batteries really made in the U.S.A?

A: Yes! Our Batteries are proudly made in the United States. We engineer, construct and assemble each battery in our facility based in New Mexico.

Q: I’m looking for a model specific Battery but don’t see it in the Speedcell Store, what do I do?

A: We can custom design and build a power system to fit the need of any motorsports vehicle. We are able to rapidly design and manufacture the correct solution for your machine. Call us directly for inquiries at 915.261.3900.

Q: Speedcell Batteries do not have traditional terminal posts, why?

A: Our batteries are unique in design in that we choose to use a closed terminal quick disconnect style design. This design offers several advantages over traditional exposed terminal designs:

  • Allows for and easy toolless connection and disconnection of the battery from / to the vehicle.
  • This easy disconnection prevents the over discharge of the battery due to the parent vehicles / machine parasitic draw.  *over discharge can permanently damage a lithium based battery*
  • Lack of exposed terminals means a safer connection w/ no chance of a short.
  • Prevents exposure & corrosion maladies due to sealed battery contacts.
  • Our quick disconnect design is not vulnerable to vibration and therefor a more reliable and secure connection than those found on traditional exposed terminal designs.

Q: What size Speedcell Battery is appropriate for my application?

A: All of our Batteries have a TDP (technical data packet) which list the application range for which it is intended. Please see our Product page.

Q: What if I have a Battery application that is outside of Motorsports?

A: Contact us! Speedcell is a division of a technology company called ATAG Inc. At ATAG we build Batteries and power systems for a wide variety of applications from commercial to military and aerospace.

Q: Are the only products you build Batteries?

A: No. As Speedcell is part of ATAG Inc. we also design and build advanced electronics, charging systems, wire harnesses, power distribution modules, and other custom spinoff technologies.

Q: Do I need to charge my Speedcell battery when it arrives?

A: Nope! Your Speedcell battery will arrive fully charged and load tested. Because we manufacture all of our products in house, all of our batteries are hand built, and given an initial charge then load tested to ensure operation within their performance window. They are given a final charge to 100% SOC (state of charge) before they are shipped.

Q: Can I charge my battery if it is below 11.0VDC?

A: NO YOU CANNOT CHARGE YOUR BATTERY IF IT DROPS BELOW 11.0VDC! UNPLUG BATTERY IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT PERMANENT DAMAGE. CONTACT US DIRECTLY BEFORE ANY ATTEMPT AT CHARGING IS MADE.

Q: How long will my Speedcell Battery last?

A: Your Speedcell Battery, when disconnected from your vehicle, will have a shelf life of 10 years and will maintain 80% of its SOC (state of charge). As long as your battery is disconnected no maintenance charging is needed.

Q: If I am storing my vehicle for the off season, or going out of town what should I do with my Speedcell Battery?

A: When you are not using your vehicle for longer than 7 days or you store the vehicle for long periods of time please disconnect your battery so that it is not permanently damaged due to parasitic draw.

Q: Can I use a battery tender on my Speedcell Battery?

A: NEVER use a battery tender or Lead Acid specific charger to recharge or maintain your Speedcell Battery. This will cause permanent damage to your Speedcell Battery as trickle chargers / battery tenders have a battery maintenance protocol for lead acid batteries. . . NOT lithium based batteries.

Q: Can my Speedcell Battery get wet?

A: If your Speedcell Battery gets wet due to light rain, spilled water or a puddle the Battery will not have any issues. Please ensure that the Battery is never submerged in or left sitting in water, it is not waterproof. If you are washing your vehicle please be sure to remove your Battery prior so that it does not get inadvertently damaged.
